This past week we celebrated a milestone for the future of our children. A new law making all school campuses tobacco-free, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week took effect on Thursday, August 20. Now all children, in all corners of the state, will attend schools that support making the healthy choice, the easy choice.

The TSET Board of Directors has awarded a six-year, $3.8 million grant to Oklahoma State University Medical Authority to address the critical shortage of physicians in Oklahoma.

At the North American Quitline Consortium (NAQC), tobacco control and prevention leaders across Oklahoma had the opportunity to showcase efforts in the state to prevent and reduce tobacco use. Tracey Strader, executive director of TSET and NAQC board of director chair, facilitated a discussion of the board at the closing plenary on Creating a Vision for the Future of Quitlines.

OKLAHOMA CITY (August 19, 2015) – The Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust Board of Investors has preliminarily certified $42.8 million in earnings for use in the coming year to fund prevention and reduction of tobacco use and other health issues, State Treasurer Ken Miller announced today.

Oklahoma City (Aug. 18, 2015) -- Teacher pay in Oklahoma is a critical issue. No one disputes that. Oklahoma’s poor health status and the burden this places on our schools, businesses, families, and our economy are also critically important. Ultimately we can't find ourselves pitting these critical issues against each other.
